The Microbiome Awards provides young, extraordinary scientists with funding and recognition to carry out scientific work in the field of Microbiome research.
MO BIO Laboratories, the main sponsor of the awards, is generously donating prizes valued at more than $10,000 to distribute among the awardees. The winners will receive a research package consisting of the analysis of a total of 200 microbiome samples run by the Earth Microbiome Project (EMP) consortium. The sample analysis includes nucleic acid extraction (using MO BIO products) and targeted amplicon analysis (16S rDNA).
Our panel of well-known researchers and partners will objectively assess the quality of the projects submitted.

The winner of the competition will receive a Research Package consisting of the analysis of 100 microbiome samples by the EMP consortium (*). The sample analysis includes Nucleic acid extraction (using MO BIO products) and targeted amplicon analysis (16S rDNA).
(*) All data generated by the EMP together with the physical and chemical contextual data provided by the researcher, will be made public through the EMP data portal www.microbio.me/emp. If the awardee chooses the privacy of the project, the prize will consist of MO BIO products for the correspondent amount of the prize.
The winning proposals will be selected based on scientific merit and originality by a Scientific Review Committee. Each winner will be contacted directly and then the names will be posted on the Microbiome Project website on September 15, 2016. All decisions are final.
Submissions are no longer being accepted. Please check back next year for the 2017 application process. The winners from the 2016 submissions will be announced in Septemeber.
